Throughout February students at Port Chester High School have celebrated Black History Month with displays of art and local history, QR codes provided links to learn more about black historical figures, movies highlighting black history and prominent figures were available for students to watch, fun trivia games were played that included winning prizes, the African American Club Poetry Slam was held, and a special day for vendors to talk to students was hosted as well. Additionally, students heard from guest speakers in a series of assemblies, including Jay Wolfe, PCHS Class of '89. Read more here.
On Feb. 14, students at Port Chester High School had an opportunity to learn more about local organizations that serve youth and beyond. The school set up several tables in the rotunda to share information about the work the groups do as part of the school’s Black History Month activities. On January 25 Judge Lissette Fernández, the first Latina woman to be appointed to the City Court in Peekskill, spoke virtually with students in various social studies and history classes at Port Chester High School. She shared her experiences with students to let them know they too can do anything they set their minds to in terms of pursing their passion Read more about what she had to say here.
Due to increasing COVID numbers, visiting spectators at athletic events will not be permitted at this time for both High school and Middle school events.
